Statement on release of "Caring for doctors, Caring for patients"

On today's release of Caring for doctors, Caring for patients from the General Medical Council, MSC Chief Executive Katie Petty-Saphon says the following:
“Medical schools welcome the GMC’s exploration of this key issue. The welfare of medical students is paramount for medical schools and any work that builds the evidence base for effective student support is valuable. The Medical Schools Council has committed to working with the GMC to implement the recommendations of the report. As we have seen, the health and well being of patients is linked to the well being of the doctors who treat them, as well as that of the wider healthcare team.”
