New guidance for GP surgeries on hosting work experience
12.09.16
The Medical Schools Council, Health Education England and the Royal College of General Practitioners have together released a toolkit for GP surgeries on the ins and outs of hosting work experience.
Having accessible opportunities for individuals to learn what life is like in a GP surgery is vital for supporting the future workforce of the health service and of course general practice. It is also an essential tool in widening participation to the medical profession.
The considerations around hosting individuals can seem complex and time-consuming for hosts, and this can act as a deterrent to providing those opportunities. This toolkit aims to simply explain the considerations while offering advice to make the process achievable.
The toolkit is called 'Doctor, doctor... How do I get work experience?', and can be found on the Health Education England website.
