Work experience
Relevant work experience (including voluntary roles and shadowing opportunities) can offer great insight of the complexities, demands and strategies of current healthcare practice and the benefits they obtain from caring for people and working in teams. However, we recognise that arranging, undertaking and effective reflection on face-to-face experiences requires a great deal of time and effort, and may not be possible for all applicants, so it is not mandatory.

- The Medical Schools Council's Consensus Statement on the Role of the Doctor
- Guiding Principles for the Admission of Medical Students.
