About the role

We are looking to appoint a high calibre clinician/scientist as an Associate Professor (Clinical) in Nephrology/Honorary Consultant to join the SAPPHIRE research group https://le.ac.uk/sapphire within the Department of Population Health Sciences. You will be expected to be a significant research income generator supervising a team of clinical and non-clinical postgraduate and undergraduate researchers. Alongside this, you will provide a leadership role in line with the College’s learning, teaching and research strategies.

50% of your time will be spent as part of the Nephrology team at the University Hospitals of Leicester, where you will contribute to direct clinical service delivery, teaching, governance and service development. You will play a prominent role in shaping and developing the future of these services.

About you

Alongside your relevant higher degree (MD/PhD), you will hold an MB BS or equivalent, a full GMC Registration (or eligible), MRCP (or equivalent) as well as a current Licence to practice (or eligible). You will be fully accredited for Higher Specialist Training, or will be eligble for inclusion on the Special Register for Nephrology within 6 months of the interview date.

You will have specialist interest in chronic kidney disease, risk prediction models and implementation of novel approaches to chronic disease care and an established track record of clinically relevant research that are internationally recognized and world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour.
