Clinical Academic Tutors

High quality support and feedback provision is a key element of our undergraduate medical course. We have transformed our phase 2 student support with the introduction of Clinical Academic Tutors. We made our first appointments in 2018/19. These have improved the student experience for our clinical students by providing high quality support and guidance in relation to the clinical part of the course.
As a Clinical Academic Tutor you will provide continuity to your group of students across their three clinical years; providing them with personal, academic, and clinically orientated support as they transition in to Phase 2. As their clinical experience and abilities grow, you will help to guide their future career choices and professional development. This is vital as they progress towards their Foundation doctor role and future medical career. In total, you will support approximately 40-50 Phase 2 students (approximately 15/year group) with regular biennial meetings. You will also support your students as they choose their Student Selected Component and Elective as those can help their subsequent career choices. In addition, you will assist the School as a regular OSCE assessor, and in written exam marking and standard setting.
