Clinical Teaching Fellowship in Medical Education
University of Leicester
This is an exciting role for a clinician who has completed their Foundation training, to develop your medical education skills. You will provide vital support to the teaching of our undergraduate medical students supervising four study groups of eight or nine students from years 1 and 2 in their completion of workbook activities. You will also support teaching during early clinical placements, developing students' knowledge and skills so they can make a smooth transition into full-time clinical training in year 3 and maximise their student experience.
Your role will include a variety of other educational activities such as teaching examination skills; involvement in our range of clinical simulation; and assessment activities such as question writing, standard setting, and marking (both written and OSCE assessments).
This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your teaching and educational skills, offering useful preparation for several Royal College postgraduate examinations. You will have the opportunity to achieve a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and have the opportunity to apply for an Accredited Teaching Qualification, gaining relevant qualifications and experience for a possible future teaching role in medical or higher education.
Applicants must hold MB ChB or equivalent and have completed satisfactorily two years of Foundation Training, or the equivalent, at the time of taking up their post together with full GMC registration. All applicants should have experience in higher education, preferably medical education, be able to demonstrate an interest in clinical education and be able to highlight the importance, significance and relevance of basic science in clinical medicine and practice.
